Patna Junction Redevelopment Plan Awaits ₹500-Crore Approval

Patna Junction, one of Bihar’s busiest railway terminals, is poised for a major transformation under a proposed ₹500-crore redevelopment project aimed at turning it into a world-class multiplex transit hub. Officials said the survey work has been completed and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already been submitted to the Railway Board, with approval expected by March.

Once cleared, the first phase will begin with construction of a new boundary wall and basic infrastructure upgrades around the station premises. The redevelopment plan includes seamless metro connectivity to ease city travel, significantly reducing dependence on road transport. The new complex will feature shopping malls, restaurants, a four-star hotel, food courts, and improved passenger amenities.

A key highlight is a smart parking facility capable of accommodating around 2,000 vehicles, aimed at tackling congestion and chaotic parking near the station. Similar redevelopment models are also being planned for Danapur and Rajendra Nagar terminals, signaling a broader push to modernize railway infrastructure in Patna.
