TRE-4: Bihar Education Minister Signals 40,000 Teacher Appointments Soon

Brief By Newsbrief / 1:38 PM on 06 Feb 2026

Bihar Education Minister Sunil Kumar on Friday announced that the recruitment process for teachers under TRE-4 is set to move forward soon. Speaking to the media outside the legislature, he said all procedural formalities have been completed and the proposal for nearly 40,000 appointments has been forwarded to the General Administration Department. Once cleared, the recruitment process will be sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission for notification and implementation.

Responding to students’ threats of protest over delays, the minister said agitation was unnecessary as the process had already begun and vacancies would be announced shortly. A large number of teacher aspirants have been awaiting TRE-4, especially after it was not mentioned in the BPSC calendar for 2026, leading to protests in Patna earlier this week.

Reassuring aspirants, the minister referred to the ruling party’s recent announcement that over 44,000 teachers will be recruited soon. He also highlighted that in the past two years, the Nitish Kumar government has appointed more than 2.27 lakh teachers in three phases, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening quality education in Bihar.
