Bihar Govt Orders Statewide Action Against Obscene Songs in Public Spaces

Brief By Newsbrief / 8:42 AM on 05 Feb 2026

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary has taken a firm stand against the public playing of obscene and double-meaning songs, terming it a threat to social values and cultural dignity. Issuing strict instructions to the police department, he ordered immediate action against those playing vulgar songs in buses, trucks, auto-rickshaws, markets and other public places, irrespective of the language.

Choudhary said such songs undermine social morality, insult women’s dignity and create a harmful environment for children and adolescents. He emphasised that the issue goes beyond law and order and must be treated as a collective social responsibility, with women’s safety as a key concern.

Following the directive, the Home Department has instructed district police officials to launch special enforcement drives, increase surveillance in crowded areas and transport hubs, and register FIRs against violators. Offenders may face arrest and imprisonment for defying the order.
