Police in Motihari achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking, seizing 292.872 kilograms of ganja valued at over ₹2 crore in the international market. Acting on directions from SP Swarn Prabhat, a special team led by Raxaul DSP Manish Anand conducted the operation in the Harpur police station area.
The seizure was made near Chikni Chowk on canal road, where police were carrying out routine vehicle checks. A Bolero driver attempted to flee after spotting the police, triggering a chase. The vehicle was intercepted, and a search conducted in the presence of a magistrate led to the recovery of the huge consignment.
Officials said the action followed specific intelligence inputs, prompting the formation of a dedicated team. A mobile phone recovered from the accused is being examined to trace the wider trafficking network. Police are questioning the arrested suspect to identify other key players involved in the racket.
