NEET Aspirant Death Probe Nears Conclusion as SIT Focuses on Digital Evidence

The investigation into the mysterious death of a NEET aspirant at a girls’ hostel in Patna has entered a decisive phase, with a seven-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) intensifying its probe. Police sources said the SIT is questioning two suspects based on technical and digital evidence collected from multiple locations in Patna and Jehanabad.

Investigators have found the student’s Google search history to be a critical lead. Records show she searched for information related to suicide and sleeping pills on December 24 and January 5, coinciding with her travel from Patna to Jehanabad and back. This has widened the scope of the probe beyond the hostel premises.

CCTV footage from the hostel showed no suspicious activity or outside intrusion near her room, prompting investigators to examine her external contacts. The recovery of sleeping pills from her room and traces found in her urine sample have raised questions about how the medication was obtained without a prescription. The SIT is now probing possible mental pressure, coercion or external influence that the student may have faced but did not disclose to her family.
