Anant Singh’s Bail Plea Due This Week, Oath as MLA After Release Likely

Janata Dal (United) legislator Anant Singh’s bail plea is likely to come up for hearing before the Patna High Court this week, a development that could determine when he formally assumes office as an MLA. The case relates to a violent clash during the election campaign in which Durlabh Yadav, associated with a rival party, was killed. Police have claimed Singh was present at the scene, an allegation the defence has strongly denied, calling the charges false and politically motivated.
