Bihar Orders Salary Cuts for 82 Headmasters Over Unaccounted Funds

The Bihar Education Department has ordered strict action against 82 school headmasters for failing to submit expenditure details worth ₹16.40 lakh under the Chief Minister’s Excursion Scheme. Officials said the amount has remained unaccounted for nearly seven years. A special camp was organised on January 8 as a final opportunity to submit vouchers, but only six headmasters complied.

Taking the matter seriously, District Education Officer Raghavendra Mani Tripathi directed salary deductions of the defaulting headmasters until the required DC vouchers are submitted. The deducted amount will be deposited into the government treasury. The department has also instructed that the salary cut be recorded in the service books of the concerned officials.

Authorities said the move aims to enforce financial discipline and accountability in government schemes. Further action may follow if compliance is delayed further.
