Dense Fog Disrupts Trains, Flights in Patna for Nearly Three Weeks

Brief By Newsbrief / 8:48 AM on 11 Jan 2026

Persistent dense fog across north India and Bihar has continued to severely disrupt rail and air traffic in Patna, stretching travel delays close to three weeks. Several superfast trains, including Rajdhani and Sampoorna Kranti services, have been arriving hours behind schedule at Patna Junction. Flight operations at Patna Airport have remained erratic, with poor visibility causing delayed arrivals and departures and triggering cascading disruptions. On Saturday alone, multiple incoming flights landed late, forcing delays to numerous outbound services. Railway officials said train speeds were restricted during early morning and late night hours to ensure passenger safety amid low visibility. Aviation authorities attributed delays to fog-related operational constraints and knock-on effects from earlier disruptions. With weather conditions showing little immediate improvement, passengers have been advised to regularly check train and flight status before travelling. Commuter fatigue is rising across region.
