The Bihar Education Department has issued detailed new guidelines for teachers working in government schools, aiming to strengthen discipline, improve teaching standards, and ensure better student outcomes. The guidelines cover key areas including dress code, leave regulations, attendance norms, classroom conduct, mid-day meal supervision, and overall academic responsibility.

According to the department, all teachers are required to follow the prescribed dress code and maintain punctuality. Strict rules have also been laid down regarding leave, with clear procedures to prevent disruption of classes. Teachers have been directed to focus on classroom teaching, regularly assess student progress, and ensure that learning activities remain engaging and effective.

The guidelines also emphasise the responsibility of teachers and headmasters in monitoring the mid-day meal scheme to ensure quality and hygiene. School heads have been made accountable for the implementation of these norms. The government has clarified that compliance is mandatory, and any violation may invite disciplinary action.

Officials said the move is intended to bring uniformity in school functioning and improve the overall learning environment for students across government schools in Bihar.
