A tragic incident has been reported from East Champaran, where a 25-year-old woman died during a surgical procedure at a private nursing home, triggering serious allegations of medical negligence by her family members. The woman, identified as Usha Devi, wife of Manibhushan Kumar and a resident of the Jhajhra village under Bankatwa block, was admitted for an operation after complaining of health complications.
According to sources, medical tests conducted before the surgery, including an MRI, revealed that the woman was pregnant. Despite this, she was admitted to a private nursing home for surgery. The operation took place on Thursday, during which her condition reportedly deteriorated, leading to her death on the operating table. Following the incident, family members accused the hospital staff and doctors of gross negligence, claiming that proper medical protocols were not followed.
The grieving relatives further alleged that nearly one and a half years ago, Usha Devi had been admitted to a woman doctor’s clinic in Motihari for delivery-related treatment, after which her health issues persisted. They believe incorrect treatment and negligence over time may have contributed to her death.
The incident sparked outrage among locals, with the family demanding strict action against the nursing home and the doctors involved. Police officials have been informed and have initiated a preliminary inquiry into the matter. Authorities have assured the family that a detailed investigation will be conducted and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings.
