Karnataka Dasara: Elephant Runs Amok, 650-Kg Silver Howdah Falls

An elephant named Somanna ran amok during a Dasara procession in Shivamogga, Karnataka, damaging vehicles and triggering panic. The elephant was carrying a silver howdah bearing Goddess Chamundeshwari’s idol when the ceremonial structure fell to the ground. Forest officials eventually brought the animal under control using a tranquilliser. The procession was halted midway following the incident.
