A massive fire broke out late Saturday at a vegetable market near Mandakini High School in Bara Jamua, under the Barwadda police station area of Dhanbad. The blaze quickly spread across dozens of makeshift stalls, destroying vegetable shops, goods and other essential items.

Firefighters reached the spot after receiving information and battled the flames for a considerable time before bringing the situation under control. No casualties have been reported so far.

According to local residents, the fire was so intense that shopkeepers had little opportunity to save their belongings. Many vendors suffered significant financial losses as their shops and merchandise were completely destroyed.

Fire brigade officer Laxman Prasad Singh said one fire tender was sent to the location after the incident was reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with a short circuit suspected. Barwadda police and fire officials are assessing the damage and investigating the circumstances.
