Firing at Cement Shop After Extortion Threat in Lohardaga

A cement trader in Lohardaga’s Harmu Road area was allegedly targeted after receiving a WhatsApp message demanding levy in the name of the Rahul Singh gang. The message reportedly warned of consequences if the demand was not met. The trader subsequently filed a written complaint with Sadar police, following which a case was registered.

On Friday night, unidentified assailants allegedly fired at the trader’s cement shop. Police were informed and increased patrolling across the city. However, the trader and his family were unaware of the firing at the time.

The trader discovered bullet marks on the shop’s shutter when he arrived to open it on Saturday morning and informed police. Officers reached the location and began examining the scene.

Lohardaga SP Sadik Anwar Rizvi confirmed that police received information about the firing and said an investigation was underway. Police are working to identify those involved, establish the reason behind the attack and determine whether it was linked to the earlier levy threat.
