Jharkhand SIR Row: FIR Registered Against Saria BDO After 9-Hour Police Station Protest

An FIR has been registered against Saria BDO Lalit Narayan Tiwari following allegations of assault and caste-based abuse during an SIR camp at Kusmadih Panchayat Secretariat on September 3.

The controversy began after a dispute reportedly erupted over video recording and escalated into an alleged physical confrontation. Villagers later gathered at the secretariat and reportedly confined the BDO inside before officials intervened and brought him back to the block headquarters.

The BDO subsequently lodged an FIR against villagers, while a complaint filed against him allegedly remained unattended. Former Bagodar MLA Vinod Kumar Singh then reached Saria police station with supporters on Tuesday, demanding that the complaint by the villagers also be registered.

After nearly nine hours of discussions involving SDM Santosh Gupta and SDPO Dhananjay Ram, police agreed to register the case. The complaint was filed by 18-year-old Mohammad Azad, who alleged that the BDO assaulted him and used caste-based abusive language. Police confirmed the FIR and said the alleged incident was captured on CCTV.
