Torrential rain in Latehar district has caused disruption after a section of the bridge over the Rajdanda River in Mahuadanr block collapsed. The damage has halted traffic on the Mahuadanr-Garu-Latehar-Palamu road, a route connecting the region with Chhattisgarh.
The bridge was damaged following a rise in the river’s water level and strong currents triggered by continuous rainfall since Saturday. After receiving information, an administrative team reached the site, sealed the road and stopped vehicle movement on safety grounds. Authorities have opened an alternative route for commuters.
Meanwhile, the Satnadiya River on the Garu-Palamu road is also overflowing at several locations, with floodwater flowing across the road. Given the dangerous conditions, authorities have restricted traffic and issued an advisory urging people not to use the route until water levels and the flow subside. The disruption has increased difficulties for residents and transporters.
