Liquor Smuggling Dispute Turns Fatal in Motihari, Elder Brother Accused of Killing Younger Brother

A dispute allegedly linked to liquor smuggling turned into a fatal incident in Motihari, Bihar, with a 22-year-old man reportedly killed by his elder brother. The incident took place late Saturday night in Telia Patti Ward No. 19 under Nagar police station.

The deceased has been identified as Anurag Kumar, the 22-year-old son of late Kali Prasad. According to reports, the two brothers had been living together after their father’s death. During this period, the elder brother, identified as Gurur, was allegedly involved in liquor smuggling. Anurag reportedly opposed his brother’s alleged activities, which had frequently led to disputes between them.

On Saturday night, the brothers allegedly began arguing over the same issue. The verbal dispute reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation. During the clash, Gurur allegedly attacked Anurag with a sharp-edged weapon. Anurag suffered severe injuries and died at the spot.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning when family members and local residents reportedly found Anurag’s body inside the house. The discovery created panic in the area, while the family was left shocked by the incident.

After receiving information, Nagar police reached the spot and began an investigation. The police took the body into custody and sent it to Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination. Investigators also collected relevant evidence from the crime scene.

Nagar police station in-charge Rajiv Ranjan said police had received information about a murder following a dispute between the two brothers. Acting swiftly, officers reached the location and arrested the elder brother in connection with the case.

The accused is currently being questioned. Police are investigating how the argument began and whether the alleged opposition to liquor smuggling was the only reason behind the murder or whether there were other factors involved. Further legal proceedings are underway.
