Supreme Court to Hear PIL Over Alleged JPSC Exam Irregularities

Ranchi: The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a public interest litigation today, August 24, seeking an independent CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in Jharkhand’s 14th JPSC Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination. Petitioner Harisharan Devgan has questioned the transparency and credibility of the examination and sought a time-bound probe into the entire process.

The preliminary examination was held on April 19, with results announced on July 2. Allegations include discrepancies involving an OMR sheet’s carbon copy. The petition seeks scrutiny of question-paper preparation, printing, storage, transportation, distribution, OMR collection, scanning, evaluation and result preparation.

JPSC has already postponed the mains examination for 103 posts until further orders. The Jharkhand CID is investigating the alleged irregularities, but the petitioner has demanded a CBI probe to ensure public confidence in the process.

The hearing comes amid prolonged student protests and wider controversy surrounding recruitment examinations in Jharkhand, with several government decisions also facing legal challenges in the High Court.
