Gold prices declined by Rs 972 to Rs 1,52,447 per 10 grams on August 13, according to data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). Silver prices also fell by Rs 3,411 to around Rs 2,34,641 per kilogram.
The latest movement reflects significant fluctuations in precious-metal prices this year. Gold has remained considerably more expensive compared with last year, while silver has recorded a sharp rise over recent months.
City-wise rates showed variations across major markets, with 24-carat gold prices differing slightly between cities. Buyers have been advised to check rates before making purchases.
Experts also recommend verifying the purity and authenticity of gold through certified hallmarking. Consumers should check the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark, purity mark and six-digit HUID number. Buyers are also advised to compare prices across sellers and confirm the applicable making charges before purchasing.
