Jharkhand Students Demand JPSC, JSSC Exam Reforms

The student movement demanding reforms in Jharkhand’s JPSC and JSSC examinations continued despite multiple rounds of talks with the government. A sixth round of discussions with student representatives is scheduled for Sunday.

Protest leader Ravindra Paswan alleged that the government was holding separate meetings with different student organisations to weaken the movement and create divisions. The government, however, said discussions were being held in a positive atmosphere and students’ concerns were being considered seriously.

Students have demanded cancellation of disputed examinations, CID investigations into alleged irregularities, and the creation of a Jharkhand Testing Agency similar to the National Testing Agency. They have also sought inclusion of tribal and regional languages in recruitment examinations.

The protest has continued at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium since July 25. Students warned that the agitation would continue until their demands are addressed and announced an Assembly march on August 10. ABVP has separately announced a march on August 11. Meanwhile, 19 people have reportedly been arrested in connection with alleged JPSC irregularities.
