Kia Sorento Hybrid Set for India Debut on September 4, Bookings Open Ahead of Launch

Kia India is expanding its SUV portfolio with the launch of the Kia Sorento, the brand’s first hybrid SUV for the Indian market. Scheduled to debut on September 4, 2026, the three-row SUV is expected to become Kia’s flagship internal combustion engine (ICE) model in India. The company has already started accepting bookings ahead of the launch.
The Sorento features a bold and refined design with vertical LED headlamps and taillamps, T-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs), Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille, muscular bumpers, dual-tone alloy wheels, and flared wheel arches that enhance its road presence. In global markets, the SUV measures 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,700 mm in height, with a 2,815 mm wheelbase. If launched with the same dimensions in India, it could become one of the largest SUVs in its segment.
Inside, the Sorento is expected to be available in both 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. The cabin will offer premium features, including a 12.3-inch dual-screen display, a four-spoke steering wheel, vertical air vents, and a rotary gear selector. Other highlights are expected to include ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a powered driver’s seat, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a head-up display, and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Kia is likely to offer the SUV with both hybrid and diesel powertrains. The hybrid version is expected to feature a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing 238 hp and 380 Nm of torque, while a 2.2-litre diesel engine may also be available.
The Sorento is expected to be assembled in India, which could help keep pricing competitive. Industry estimates suggest a starting price of around ₹40 lakh, where it will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, MG Majestor, and Jeep Meridian.
