TRAI Launches ‘MyCall’ App to Tackle Call Drops, Android Users Can Now Rate Call Quality

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched a new mobile application called TRAI MyCall, aimed at improving the quality of voice calls across the country. The app is currently available only for Android users and can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. According to TRAI, the initiative will help collect real-time feedback from consumers about their calling experience.

The regulator announced the launch through its official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating that every consumer's call experience matters. After receiving a phone call, users can rate the quality of the call through the app. TRAI plans to analyze this feedback to identify network-related issues and work with telecom operators to improve overall call quality.

Call drops continue to be a major concern for mobile users, especially in areas with weak network coverage or overloaded telecom towers. Although most mobile recharge plans now offer unlimited calling, frequent call disconnections remain frustrating and can be particularly costly for users who still rely on talk-time-based plans.

The TRAI MyCall app is designed to gather user feedback on voice call performance, helping the regulator monitor service quality more effectively. The app requires access to certain basic phone information to function properly, but its primary purpose is to measure and improve consumers' calling experience.

At present, the application is available only for Android smartphones, while an iPhone version has not yet been released.

A call drop occurs when an ongoing phone call disconnects automatically without either user intentionally ending it. Common reasons include poor network coverage, congestion on mobile towers, switching between network cells, or temporary technical issues. By collecting user feedback through the MyCall app, TRAI aims to reduce such problems and improve the reliability of mobile voice services across India.
