Jharkhand Students Intensify JPSC Protest, Reject Political Participation

Students protesting alleged irregularities in Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) recruitment examinations have intensified their agitation at Ranchi's Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, despite continuous rainfall. Protest leaders have barred political parties from participating, insisting the movement remain independent and focused solely on students' concerns. The protesters are demanding cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary examination, a CBI investigation into all disputed recruitment exams, and removal of the examination agency accused of irregularities. They have also called for greater transparency, including publication of cut-off marks and merit lists, and the introduction of a fifth option on OMR sheets to reduce the possibility of manipulation. While the state government has postponed the JPSC Main examination, students say their demands remain unmet. A committee formed by the protesters is coordinating future action, including a planned march to the Jharkhand Assembly on August 10, as the movement continues to gain momentum.
