Kia India has officially begun pre-bookings for its upcoming Sorento SUV, marking the arrival of the brand’s flagship premium SUV in the Indian market. After teasing the vehicle on social media over the past few days, the company has now released the first official teaser, confirming that bookings are open through Kia’s authorised dealerships and official website.
Already available in several international markets, the Sorento will be positioned above the Seltos and Carens in Kia’s Indian lineup. Since its global debut in 2002, the Sorento has evolved through four generations and has sold more than 4.8 million units across 132 countries, making it one of Kia’s most successful SUVs worldwide.
Kia has confirmed that the India-spec Sorento will primarily be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain. While a petrol variant is also expected, reports indicate that a diesel version is unlikely. The SUV is likely to feature a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol hybrid engine paired with an electric motor and a 6-speed automatic transmission, aiming to deliver a balance of performance and fuel efficiency.
The upcoming Sorento is expected to come loaded with premium features, including dual digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, premium upholstery, multi-zone climate control, a Bose sound system, a 360-degree camera and Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
Globally, the Sorento has earned high safety recognition, including the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award and a 5-star NHTSA safety rating. Industry reports also suggest Kia may assemble the SUV locally in India to make pricing more competitive.
Expected to launch in the coming weeks, the new Kia Sorento is likely to be priced between ₹45 lakh and ₹55 lakh (on-road), targeting buyers looking for a premium three-row SUV with advanced technology, hybrid efficiency and luxury features.
