Hyundai Motor India is set to strengthen its product lineup with the launch of two new SUVs during the current financial year. The company plans to introduce a mid-size internal combustion engine (ICE) SUV first, followed by a new all-electric SUV positioned in the Venue segment. Both models are expected to arrive around the festive season as Hyundai looks to expand its presence in India's growing SUV and electric vehicle markets.
The upcoming mid-size SUV is expected to help Hyundai reinforce its position in one of the country's most competitive automotive segments. Since the next-generation Creta is still some time away, the new model is likely to complement the existing Creta rather than replace it. Industry observers believe Hyundai could adopt a strategy similar to other manufacturers by offering two SUVs in the same category to appeal to a wider range of buyers.
The company is also preparing to enter the rapidly expanding sub-four-metre electric SUV segment with a new EV. Unlike the current Venue, the electric model is expected to be built on a different architecture instead of sharing the existing platform. Both upcoming vehicles will reportedly be produced at Hyundai's Chennai manufacturing facility.
Hyundai is also believed to be evaluating the launch of a CNG-powered SUV in the future. At present, the company offers factory-fitted CNG options only in entry-level models such as the Grand i10 Nios, Aura, and Exter. The automaker has previously indicated plans to expand its CNG portfolio to six models by 2030.
Market reports suggest that the upcoming SUV could draw inspiration from the Hyundai Bayon, which is sold in international markets. However, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the vehicle's design, specifications, or launch timeline. More details are expected to emerge closer to the festive season as the company prepares to unveil its new products.
