Hyundai Unveils 7-Seater Electric Car Neira With Kia Carens-Like Design

Hyundai has introduced its new 7-seater electric vehicle, the Hyundai Neira prototype, at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Designed especially for family buyers, the three-row electric car combines practicality with an SUV-inspired design. Hyundai is expected to begin production of the model in Indonesia, with a possible launch by the end of 2026.

The Hyundai Neira shares several design elements with the Kia Carens Clavis EV, which is available in India. Hyundai and Kia often share platforms, technology, and powertrain components, but both brands give their vehicles unique styling identities. This can also be seen in models like Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet, as well as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

Although the Neira looks similar to the Carens Clavis EV, Hyundai has added its own design approach. The front features wide LED lighting, while the lower bumper gets silver detailing that gives the vehicle a more rugged appearance. The overall styling makes it look like an SUV despite being an MPV.

The vehicle comes with dual-tone alloy wheels, black wheel arch cladding, roof rails, conventional door handles, and silver lower body elements. At the rear, vertically positioned LED tail lamps add to its modern look. The design focuses on combining the space of an MPV with the bold appearance of an SUV.

Hyundai has confirmed that the Neira will be further refined before its official launch. However, the company has not revealed details about battery capacity, driving range, motor output, or charging capability.

With growing demand for electric vehicles and practical family cars, the Hyundai Neira could become an important model for the company in emerging markets. Its combination of seven-seat practicality, electric technology, and SUV-inspired styling could help Hyundai attract customers looking for a spacious and eco-friendly vehicle.
