Researchers at Hiroshima University have identified an early molecular indicator of skin ageing that appears before visible collagen damage occurs. Using advanced light-based imaging, the study found collagen can lose its internal organisation despite remaining unchanged in quantity. The findings may help scientists detect tissue damage earlier and develop more effective preventive skincare treatments.
