Toyota Teases Next-Gen Hilux Ahead of July 28 India Launch; New Design, Same Powerful Diesel Engine

Toyota has officially teased the next-generation Hilux ahead of its India launch scheduled for July 28, 2026. The updated pickup truck brings a refreshed exterior design while continuing to use the proven body-on-frame IMV platform that underpins the current model. The vehicle has already been introduced in global markets, and the Indian version is expected to closely match the international model.
The teaser showcases the Hilux in a bronze colour and reveals a completely redesigned front fascia. It features a honeycomb grille, a silver skid plate and prominent TOYOTA lettering across a black panel connecting the LED headlights, giving the pickup a bolder and more rugged appearance. Other visible highlights include black alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, roll bars behind the cabin and a shark-fin antenna. Although the rear design has not been revealed in the teaser, the global version features vertical LED taillights and large Hilux branding on the tailgate.
Toyota has not yet revealed the cabin for the India-spec model, but it is expected to come with a premium double-cab layout. The interior is likely to include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual 12.3-inch displays, Toyota Smart Connect technology and an upgraded dashboard-mounted infotainment system, offering a more modern driving experience.
Mechanically, the new Hilux is expected to retain the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 204 hp. The six-speed manual version develops 420 Nm of torque, while the six-speed automatic delivers 500 Nm. In international markets, Toyota also offers a 48V mild-hybrid system with regenerative braking, although it remains unclear whether this technology will be introduced in India at launch.
The upcoming Hilux is expected to be priced higher than the current model, which is available between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹36 lakh (ex-showroom). The refreshed styling and upgraded features aim to strengthen Toyota's position in India's premium lifestyle pickup segment.
