Gold and silver prices witnessed a decline on Friday, offering some relief to buyers. According to the latest rates released by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold remained below ₹1.42 lakh per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold dropped below ₹1.30 lakh per 10 grams.
As per the rates published on IBJA's official website on the morning of July 17, 2026, 23-carat gold (995 purity) was trading at over ₹1.40 lakh per 10 grams, down from more than ₹1.41 lakh in the previous trading session. Meanwhile, the price of 22-carat gold (916 purity) declined to ₹1,29,398 per 10 grams. The fall in bullion prices reflects the latest movement in the domestic precious metals market.
The India Bullion and Jewellers Association updates gold and silver prices twice every trading day—once in the morning and again in the evening—from Monday to Friday. These benchmark rates are widely accepted across the country and serve as a reference for traders, jewellers and consumers.
However, buyers should note that the prices displayed by IBJA do not include Goods and Services Tax (GST) or jewellery making charges. As a result, the final amount paid while purchasing gold jewellery is usually higher than the published bullion rate. Making charges vary depending on the jeweller, the design and the craftsmanship of the jewellery.
IBJA also does not publish gold and silver rates on Saturdays, Sundays or on central government-declared public holidays, as bullion trading remains closed on those days. Consumers planning to buy gold or silver are advised to check the latest official rates before making a purchase, as prices fluctuate daily based on domestic demand, international market trends and movements in global bullion prices.
