A 25-year-old man was bitten by a snake while searching for his ducks in a forest near Raika village under the Gua police station area of West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. The victim, identified as Ramesh Sirka, was admitted to Gua SAIL Hospital, where doctors provided timely treatment and confirmed that he is now out of danger. The incident has once again highlighted the importance of seeking immediate medical attention in snakebite cases, especially during the monsoon season when snakes are more likely to come out of their burrows.

According to reports, Ramesh had gone into the nearby forest to look for his missing ducks when he accidentally stepped on a snake. In response, the snake bit him on his right foot, causing significant bleeding. People nearby rushed to help him. Following local beliefs, Ramesh initially consumed herbal medicine instead of visiting a hospital. However, on Thursday morning, he reached Gua SAIL Hospital, where doctors examined him and immediately began treatment. Due to timely medical care, his condition improved, and he was declared out of danger.

Doctors said snakebite cases tend to increase during the rainy season because flooded burrows force snakes to move into open areas. They advised people working in forests, fields, or near bushes to remain alert and wear protective footwear whenever possible. Medical experts also warned against depending on herbal remedies, faith healing, or home treatments, as these can delay life-saving care. They stressed that Anti-Snake Venom (ASV) is the only effective treatment for venomous snakebites and that prompt hospital care significantly improves the chances of survival. Health officials have urged the public to treat every snakebite as a medical emergency and seek immediate professional treatment.
