A devastating road accident on NH-75 connecting Ranchi and Medininagar claimed two lives on Thursday morning near Shiv Tola in the Chandwa police station area of Jharkhand's Latehar district. The victims, identified as 34-year-old Tinku Bhuiyan and his 14-year-old brother-in-law Mithun Bhuiyan, died on the spot after their motorcycle was struck by a speeding truck. The impact was so severe that the truck lost control and overturned, crushing both riders beneath it. The incident triggered panic in the area, and police rushed to the scene soon after receiving information.
According to police, Tinku Bhuiyan, a resident of Mahavir Nagar Bukbuka in Ranchi's Khalari area, was travelling with Mithun Bhuiyan, a resident of Salgi village in Lohardaga district's Kudu block. They were riding from Chandwa towards Latehar when the accident occurred. Local residents and police launched a rescue operation, using a Hydra crane to lift the overturned truck and recover the victims. They were taken to the Community Health Centre in Chandwa, where doctors declared both dead. The bodies were later sent to Sadar Hospital, Latehar, for post-mortem examination.
Police have seized the accident-hit truck, but the driver managed to flee the scene after abandoning the vehicle. A search operation is underway to trace and arrest him. The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on NH-75 before normal movement was restored. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. The tragic deaths have left both families in deep grief, with relatives mourning the sudden loss of their loved ones.
