Sawan 2026: Devotees Gear Up for Sacred Kanwar Yatra to Baba Baidyanath Dham

The holy month of Sawan will commence on July 30, 2026, marking the beginning of one of the most significant periods for Lord Shiva devotees. Every year, millions of pilgrims from across India travel to Sultanganj, where they collect sacred water from the north-flowing Ganga River before undertaking the 105-kilometre Kanwar Yatra on foot to Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar. As part of this year's pilgrimage, a religious group from Ranchi is also organizing its traditional Kanwar Yatra. Around 40 devotees will depart for Sultanganj by train on July 25, 2026. After collecting the sacred Ganga water, they will begin the challenging foot journey to Deoghar and are expected to reach Baba Baidyanath Dham on July 30, where they will perform Jalabhishek according to traditional rituals. The pilgrimage is conducted every year with devotion, discipline and spiritual enthusiasm, attracting a growing number of participants.
Devotees associated with the group say they have been following this sacred tradition for many years. They firmly believe that no devotee who visits Baba Baidyanath with sincere faith returns disappointed. According to their belief, Lord Shiva showers his blessings upon true devotees and fulfills their prayers. This unwavering faith continues to inspire more people to participate in the Kanwar Yatra each year. With Sawan approaching, pilgrims have already begun preparations, eager to undertake the sacred journey and seek the blessings of Lord Shiva through one of India's most revered annual pilgrimages.
