A major robbery incident has been reported from the Sariya police station area of Giridih district, where unidentified criminals looted jewellery worth approximately ₹13 lakh from a local trader and escaped. The incident took place near Jhanda Chowk on Friday night and has raised concerns among the business community in the area.

According to police and local sources, the victim, Sachit Soni, is engaged in the jewellery business and was returning home after closing his shop. While traveling through the Jhanda Chowk area, his motorcycle was allegedly hit by another bike carrying three men. The impact caused him to lose balance and fall onto the road.

Following the collision, an argument reportedly broke out between the trader and the bike-borne youths. However, instead of escalating the confrontation, the accused allegedly took advantage of the situation and grabbed a bag hanging from the motorcycle’s handle. The bag contained gold and silver ornaments valued at nearly ₹13 lakh.

The suspects fled the scene at high speed immediately after snatching the bag. The entire incident occurred within moments, leaving the trader with little chance to react or pursue the culprits. Local residents were informed soon after, and the matter was reported to the police.

Upon receiving information about the robbery, Sariya police launched an investigation and began searching for the accused. Station House Officer Pinku Singh confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved. Police are collecting evidence, examining possible leads, and conducting raids in nearby areas.

Authorities said the process of obtaining a written complaint from the victim is underway. Meanwhile, traders in the region have expressed concern over the incident and demanded swift action against the criminals. Police have assured that all angles are being investigated and that attempts are being made to recover the stolen jewellery at the earliest.
