An interstate gang accused of targeting women and stealing their jewelry through deception has been busted by Palamu Police in Jharkhand’s Nawa Bazar police station area. Acting under the supervision of SDPO Prashant Kumar, a police team led by Station House Officer Neeraj Kumar arrested six members of the gang and recovered stolen valuables along with vehicles and other materials used in the crimes.

According to police, the case came to light on June 2 when Anita Devi, a resident of Hulsi village, reported that an unknown man had visited her house around noon. The suspect introduced himself as a person knowledgeable about catching snakes and gradually gained her trust. During the conversation, he convinced her to remove her gold mangalsutra on the pretext of cleaning and securing it. After obtaining the jewelry, he fled the scene.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Nawa Bazar Police Station. Considering the seriousness of the incident, a special investigation team was formed under the directions of the Superintendent of Police. Using technical evidence and intelligence inputs, officers traced and arrested six suspects linked to the crime.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that they traveled through villages, targeted women, and used various tricks to persuade them to hand over their jewelry. The stolen ornaments were later sold for profit.
