Yo Yo Honey Singh has spoken candidly about the darkest phase of his life, revealing how bipolar disorder, drug addiction, and fame almost destroyed his career and personal life. During an appearance on the AB Talks podcast, the rapper reflected on his rapid rise to stardom between 2011 and 2014 and the mental health struggles that followed.
Honey Singh admitted that at the peak of his success, he completely lost control over himself. He said fame changed his behavior, attitude, and mindset to the extent that he began believing he had achieved everything on his own. According to him, he became arrogant, insulted people around him, and even started considering himself “God.” At the same time, he had become deeply involved in drug abuse, which severely affected his mental health.
The rapper revealed that bipolar disorder took a heavy toll on him physically and emotionally. He said the illness became so intense that he even lost all the hair on his head during that phase. Honey Singh also clarified that he does not blame the entertainment industry for his downfall, saying the decisions that ruined his life were entirely his own.
During the conversation, Honey Singh mentioned that several Bollywood superstars tried to warn him about his lifestyle. He especially recalled advice from Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, who repeatedly told him that drugs and reckless behavior would eventually destroy him. He described both actors as grounded and humble personalities despite their immense fame.
Honey Singh stepped away from music around 2015 and spent nearly three years isolated in his room while battling severe mental health issues. He admitted there were times when he prayed for death. Although he returned to music in 2018, he said he could never fully recreate the unmatched stardom he experienced during his peak years.
