Meta has unveiled a new range of premium subscription plans for its popular platforms Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, marking a major shift in the company’s business strategy. The plans are being introduced globally, including in India, and will provide users with exclusive tools, customization features, and advanced experiences not available in the free versions.
The company appears to be moving beyond its long-standing dependence on advertising revenue by encouraging users to pay monthly fees for premium services and enhanced visibility. According to reports, Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are expected to cost $3.99 per month, while WhatsApp Plus may be priced at $2.99 per month. Official India pricing has not yet been announced.
The WhatsApp Plus subscription is expected to include personalized messaging features such as custom themes, unique ringtones, premium stickers, and the ability to pin more chats. Meanwhile, Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus subscribers may receive advanced audience tools, story customization options, profile upgrades, and enhanced visibility features.
Instagram Plus users could reportedly access features like extended story duration beyond 24 hours, unlimited story audience lists, story rewatch insights, viewer search options, custom fonts for bios, animated reactions, and special profile customization tools.
Meta has also introduced AI-focused plans under the Meta One branding. The Meta One Plus subscription is designed for users who frequently create AI-generated images, videos, and advanced prompts, while the more expensive Meta One Premium plan offers higher usage limits and additional capabilities.
Separate plans for creators and businesses are also being launched, aimed at improving reach, audience engagement, and content promotion. These plans may especially benefit influencers, brands, and digital creators seeking greater visibility across Meta’s platforms.
