A dramatic police encounter took place in Bihar’s Masaurhi area on Wednesday morning, where notorious criminal Ajay Paswan was injured and arrested after allegedly opening fire on police during a raid. Another accused, Ajay Yadav alias Chhotu alias Shravan, was also taken into custody during the operation.
The joint action was carried out by the Special DIU team and Masaurhi police under the directions of Patna SSP Kartikeya Sharma. According to police sources, officials had received confidential information that Ajay Paswan and his gang members were planning a major crime in the Charma village area.
Acting on the tip-off, police teams surrounded the area and launched a raid around 4 AM on Wednesday. As soon as the accused noticed the police presence, they allegedly attempted to flee and started firing at the police team. In retaliation, police opened fire, during which Ajay Paswan sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
After being injured, he was arrested from the spot and shifted to a hospital for treatment. His associate also tried to escape, but police chased and captured him shortly afterward.
During the investigation, police found that Ajay Paswan was allegedly involved in the ₹27 lakh robbery from a security vehicle under Gopalpur police station limits on May 13. Officials also revealed that the gang had recently conducted reconnaissance to target a gold trader in Masaurhi.
Police recovered a pistol, a country-made firearm, and several live cartridges from the accused. Both criminals reportedly face multiple serious charges, including murder, robbery, extortion, and violations under the Arms Act.
Following the encounter, senior officers, including City SP East Parichay Kumar, reached the spot and began further investigation. Police said raids are continuing to trace other gang members linked to the criminal network.
