OpenAI Launches ‘AI for All’ Program, Malta Citizens to Get Free ChatGPT Plus Subscription

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly expanding across India and the world, with major tech companies introducing new partnerships and initiatives to make premium AI tools more accessible to users. Companies such as OpenAI, Google and Perplexity AI have already offered free AI subscriptions in several countries, and now Malta has joined the list.

OpenAI has launched a special initiative in Malta called “AI for All” in collaboration with the Maltese government and the University of Malta. Under this program, citizens who complete a government-supported AI literacy course will receive a free one-year subscription to ChatGPT Plus.

The initiative is considered OpenAI’s first national-level campaign of this kind. The free subscription will be available to all citizens registered in Malta’s digital identity system, including Maltese citizens living abroad. However, participants must complete a special course designed to teach safe, responsible and practical use of AI technology. The program is expected to begin later this month.

In India, ChatGPT Plus costs around Rs 2,000 per month, making a free one-year subscription a significant benefit for users. The move highlights OpenAI’s growing focus on increasing AI awareness and digital education globally.

Reports also suggest that OpenAI is preparing to launch a similar initiative in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company is reportedly working on a “Stargate UAE” infrastructure partnership, which may include free AI subscription access for citizens.

India has also seen several AI-related promotional offers in recent years. Google partnered with Jio to provide some AI services for free, while Perplexity AI offered complimentary access to its Pro plan for Airtel users before discontinuing the offer later. OpenAI had also introduced lower-cost plans and wider access options for users without requiring special partnerships.
