RJD Registers Breakthrough Win in Kerala, Secures Koothuparamba Seat

Tejashwi Yadav-led Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has marked its presence in Kerala by winning the Koothuparamba Assembly seat in Kannur district. Party candidate P.K. Praveen defeated Indian Union Muslim League’s Jayanti Rajan by 1,286 votes, securing 70,448 votes against Rajan’s 69,162. BJP’s Adv. Shijilal finished a distant third with 22,195 votes.

The victory came after Praveen maintained a consistent lead from the initial counting rounds, where he first surged ahead by over 1,000 votes. This win gives RJD its only seat in the state.

However, the party fell short in two other constituencies where it fielded candidates. In Kalpetta, Congress candidate T. Siddique defeated RJD’s P.K. Anil Kumar by a margin of 45,031 votes. Similarly, in Vadakara, RMP’s K.K. Rema secured victory over RJD’s M.K. Bhaskaran by 14,862 votes.
