Railways Rolls Out 12 Summer Specials to Beat Rush

Brief By Newsbrief / 2:11 PM on 28 Apr 2026

In a major relief for passengers facing heavy rush during summer vacations and the festive season, Indian Railways has announced 12 special trains to manage the surge in travel demand. These trains will connect eastern regions, including Jharkhand and Bihar, with key states such as Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana, improving long-distance connectivity.

The move comes as passengers struggled to secure confirmed tickets during May and June due to overcrowding. The special trains will halt at important stations under the Asansol division, including Asansol, Durgapur, Chittaranjan and Madhupur, directly benefiting travelers from Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamtara and nearby areas.

Among the newly introduced services are Bhavnagar–Howrah, Sabarmati–Durgapur, Valsad–Durgapur, Nanded–Asansol and Charlapalli–Madhupur specials. Additional routes like Sabarmati–Asansol and Sultanpur–Dankuni have also been included following increased demand. Railway officials said the initiative aims to ease congestion and ensure smoother travel during peak season.
