A tragic elephant attack in Koderma district has left two people dead, including a 32-year-old worker and a 12-year-old boy, while three others sustained injuries. The incident occurred in Kanjhiyadih village under Jainagar police station limits, where a herd of elephants entered a brick kiln area late at night and began destroying huts.
As panic spread, workers tried to flee, but the victims were caught in the chaos. The young boy was reportedly trampled while attempting to escape, and the worker was attacked while trying to rescue a child trapped inside a hut. Authorities confirmed that such incidents have risen sharply, with seven deaths reported in the past 27 days.
Residents have expressed anger over repeated attacks and inadequate preventive measures. Forest officials are attempting to drive the elephants away, with assistance from a special team. Locals have been advised to stay indoors at night and avoid forested areas.
