In a major political development, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has resigned from his post, paving the way for a new government formation in the state. Earlier, he chaired a brief cabinet meeting where a proposal to dissolve the government was approved, formally ending its tenure. Soon after, Kumar reached Lok Bhavan to submit his resignation to the Governor.
The development has intensified political activity, with senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, including Shivraj Singh Chouhan, visiting the chief minister’s residence ahead of the move. Speculation is strong that Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary could be named the next chief minister, although an official announcement is awaited.
Preparations are underway for the formation of a new government, with a swearing-in ceremony likely on April 15. The BJP legislative party is set to meet to finalise leadership, while top national leaders may attend the oath-taking ceremony.
