Ranchi Water Supply To Remain Suspended For 48 Hours Amid Pipeline Work

Brief By Newsbrief / 7:18 PM on 28 Mar 2026

Water supply in several parts of Ranchi will remain completely suspended for 48 hours from March 30 to March 31, as the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department undertakes pipeline shifting work linked to an ongoing flyover construction project. The shutdown will impact areas between Bahu Bazaar and Patel Chowk, as well as regions connected to the Siramtoli-MECON and Kokar-Yogda Satsang Ashram flyovers.

Officials stated that nearly 1.25 kilometres of pipeline will be relocated and new connections installed to support long-term improvements in water distribution. While the move is expected to strengthen infrastructure and ensure better supply in the future, thousands of households are likely to face temporary inconvenience during the shutdown period.

Authorities have advised residents to store sufficient water in advance to avoid disruption to daily activities. The department has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured that efforts are being made to complete the work within the scheduled timeframe.
