A growing shortage of LPG cylinders across Jharkhand and several other states has prompted the central government to convene a high-level meeting with state ministers on March 27 in New Delhi. The meeting, to be chaired by Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, is expected to address supply disruptions and explore immediate relief measures.
Jharkhand minister Irfan Ansari will present the state’s ground situation, highlighting the gap between demand and supply. He is likely to urge the Centre to increase allocation and ensure timely distribution.
Meanwhile, the issue has triggered a political tussle, with opposition parties blaming the Centre for inadequate supply, while BJP leaders attribute the crisis to black marketing and mismanagement at the state level.
Officials say domestic and commercial consumers are facing difficulties due to reduced supply. Authorities have directed agencies to prioritise home deliveries, while experts advise patience amid global uncertainties impacting fuel availability.
