Authorities in Giridih have confirmed that the stone-laden truck involved in a fatal accident was carrying illegally mined material, following an initial investigation prompted by media reports. A case has been registered against the vehicle’s owner and driver after officials found no valid documents for the transported stones at the site.
The incident occurred on March 13 in the Hirodih police station area, where a woman was killed after being run over by the truck. Enraged villagers later set the vehicle on fire.
Separate FIRs have also been filed in connection with illegal mining activities in nearby areas, with one accused named in the case. Additionally, the vehicle owner has lodged a complaint naming several individuals and unidentified persons for arson and violence.
Police are examining CCTV footage, toll records, and mining sources as part of a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
