Nishant Kumar, the only son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has formally entered active politics by joining the Janata Dal (United). His political debut has drawn attention not only because of his family background but also due to his academic credentials, which set him apart from several other young leaders from political families in Bihar.
Unlike many political heirs, Nishant holds an engineering degree. He completed his B.Tech from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, one of India’s well-known technical institutions. His educational background has often been highlighted in comparisons with other prominent political heirs in the state, including Tejashwi Yadav and Chirag Paswan.
Despite belonging to a powerful political family, Nishant has largely stayed away from public life for years and is known for maintaining a simple and low-profile lifestyle. He is also believed to be deeply involved in religious and social activities.
With his entry into politics, Nishant Kumar is expected to play a key role in strengthening the JD(U) organisation and carrying forward Nitish Kumar’s political legacy.
