A tragic road accident occurred near the Jharkhand–Chhattisgarh border when a passenger bus overturned in the Karadega valley. The bus, named Anmol, was traveling from Kurdeg in Jharkhand’s Simdega district to Kunkuri in Chhattisgarh. According to initial reports, the bus lost control after its brakes failed on a steep downhill road near Godaamba village, causing it to overturn on the roadside. At least five passengers died on the spot in the accident.
More than 20 people were injured in the crash, with around six reported to be in critical condition. The injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. While those with minor injuries are being treated at Kunkuri hospital, critically injured passengers have been referred to Ambikapur Medical College.
Local villagers and administrative officials quickly reached the scene and helped in rescue efforts. Police have launched an investigation to determine whether mechanical failure or overloading caused the accident.
