Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni’s luxury Mercedes has been issued a ₹1000 e-challan for overspeeding in Ranchi. According to Jharkhand Traffic Police, the incident occurred on March 1, 2026, on the Kanke Ring Road, where the maximum permitted speed for vehicles is 60 km/h.
Traffic surveillance cameras recorded the car traveling at around 91 km/h, exceeding the speed limit by 31 km/h. Based on the automated detection, authorities issued an electronic challan under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
Officials stated that the fine was imposed following standard procedure, emphasizing that traffic rules apply equally to all citizens regardless of their status. The case also highlights the growing impact of digital traffic monitoring systems installed across Ranchi to improve road safety and ensure stricter enforcement of speed regulations.
Authorities have urged motorists to follow speed limits and traffic rules to prevent accidents and maintain safer roads in the city.
