Political speculation has intensified in Bihar ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, with several high-profile names emerging from NDA allies. According to party sources, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar is being considered for a Rajya Sabha berth from JD(U), signaling a possible formal entry into active politics. Union Minister Ramnath Thakur is also reportedly in contention from the JD(U) quota. On the BJP side, Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh and Bhojpuri actor-singer Pawan Singh are being discussed as potential candidates, although no official confirmation has been issued yet. Sources suggest that two candidates each from JD(U) and BJP are nearly finalized. Bihar will elect five Rajya Sabha members, with polling scheduled for March 16, 2026. Nomination filing began on February 26, scrutiny is set for March 6, and withdrawal of nominations will close on March 9. Counting will take place on the same day as voting.
