Amit Shah Vows Action on Infiltration, Confident of BJP Win in West Bengal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would form the next government in West Bengal after the upcoming Assembly elections. Addressing an SSB event in Bihar’s Araria district, he said a BJP-led government would take decisive steps to identify and remove infiltrators, adding that action would begin from border regions including Seemanchal. Shah described infiltration as a serious national security challenge, claiming it disturbs demographic balance and allows misuse of government welfare benefits meant for citizens. He stated that states such as West Bengal, Assam, and Jharkhand remain particularly sensitive to demographic changes and affirmed the Narendra Modi government’s commitment to maintaining balance and strengthening border security. During his speech, Shah also paid tribute to freedom fighter and ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his death anniversary, crediting him with popularizing the 1857 uprising as India’s First War of Independence through his writings.
