During the 16th day of the Bihar Assembly budget session, Education Minister Sunil Kumar clarified the state’s position on reservation for economically weaker sections (EWS) in teacher eligibility and recruitment examinations. Responding to questions raised in the House regarding demands for a 5% EWS quota in the STET exam, the minister stated that Bihar already provides a 10% reservation for EWS candidates. He emphasized that this provision has been effectively implemented in the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE). Addressing concerns related to STET, Kumar said the government would carefully review the relevant High Court order before taking any further decision. He assured legislators that if any gaps or procedural errors are found in the implementation of reservation rules, necessary corrective measures would be introduced. The clarification comes amid continued concerns among candidates over reservation policies in STET and TRE, with the government promising transparency and proper compliance with legal guidelines.
